Conor McGregor ‘absolutely’ going to train for UFC in Ireland

Conor McGregor is “absolutely” going to be training for UFC Fight Night Dublin, the Irish media have confirmed.

The UFC featherweight champion and the main event of UFC Dublin 2017 were due to meet at the Cooley Stadium in Dublin on Sunday but the event has been postponed to Friday as Conor McGregor continues to recover from his broken jaw.

The Irish media said McGregor had been informed he could not participate in the event and will not be attending.

However, the event will still take place in the venue on Friday and will be held under the UFC banner.

“We have been told that Conor McGregor will not attend UFC Dublin due to injury and we are confident that he will be back in the ring on Friday,” a source said.

However the source also confirmed that McGregor had yet to receive a medical certificate from the Irish medical authorities which would enable him to compete in the card.

The source said the medical certificate was expected in the coming days.
