Amtrak train service between Amherst and New York City is finally coming to an end.
Amtrak announced the end of service for the train between the two cities Wednesday, as part of a two-year contract with the Federal Railroad Administration to help keep trains running during the Super Bowl and the White House’s inauguration.
But that doesn’t mean Amtrak’s train service is finished.
As the New York Times reported, the train will only run on the weekends and in the winter months.
Amtrak has also announced plans to create a new service that runs between New York and Washington D.C., and to open a second service to San Francisco and the Pacific Northwest.
Amazons train service has been a source of frustration for some residents in New York.
Some residents, like John Wysopal, are hoping that a new Amtrak service will provide the same service they have experienced on trains.
